Atheism
After a long period of reflection, I came to this. Christianity is not for me. Although the idea of a religion that keeps people with good morals is great, I have noticed many contradictions both in the bible and the community itself. The list is long and unyielding, poking holes in the concept of Christ, heaven, hell, purgatory, and god.
As i was sitting in church during Alpha, a particular line caught my attention. "God is merciful..." In the bible, God's total kill count is 2,476,633, while that of Satan is 10. How can a merciful and loving god be responsible for so much pain? Even in todays society, many people are starving, are sick, are impoverished. Is God responsible for that too?
How can an all knowing and all powerful being allow so much pain and suffering? If I am to be judged by god upon my death, i will first have him answer for all that has happened on this earth.
Another thing that has bothered me before are the people believe that they can take away and restrict the freedoms of other because their life style is "against" their religion. A wise man once said "Saying two people cant marry because it is against your religion, is like being angry at someone for eating a donut, because you are on a diet"
These people seem to think that God will punish those who find love among their own sex, but will love those who hate them for it. These people give all religion a bad name, and it is not something i want to share with people of the sort.
Throughout history, Christianity (and all branches thereof) has been the cause of so much pain, so much suffering. What was intended to be a beacon of hope among the oppressed became a bloody weapon against those who disagree, by those who follow. The oppressed has become the oppressor and I do not follow it.
My final reason for this note is simply this; I believe that if people need to be rewarded with eternal glory to be good people, then they are missing the point entirely. Why should people have to worry

All throughout Their Eyes were Watching God, the main character, Janie, seems to swoon over her third husband Tea Cake. She’s obsessed with the fact that he makes her feel worthy or even smart unlike her other husbands, Joe and Logan. He actually takes the time to teach her how to play checkers, something she was never allowed to do. Vergible “Tea Cake” Woods also makes Janie young and spontaneous. Their adventure filled relationship make her glow inside. To the sudden night fishing trip, to romantic picnics, even to dancing until her feet hurt at Jacksonville clubs. They way he cuddled up to her scratching her head and petting her hair make her feel beautiful and loved deeply. All these factors may all make Tea Cake seem like a “good” man, but Janie really fails to narrate or even look into his cons, which happen to big ones overcasting his pleasant traits. He’s stolen her money without her permission, caught practically cheating on Janie with another…

“Who knows why heaven dislikes what is dislikes? Even the sage considers it a difficult question.” Lau-Tzu (Archetypes of Wisdom, p. 45). As Lau-Tzu clearly states not even the high sage knows why heaven dislikes what it dislikes. This is a question that no one can answer, except for God. Kemmy Nola proposed the idea that sometimes when people lack the feeling of completeness they begin to look for that feeling in other relationships, sex, and material things. It’s easy to say that by Dimmesdale being in a constant state of moral confusion he lacked this completeness. He looked to Hester who also lacked a sense of completeness with her husband gone. Dimmesdale fell in love with Hester and through their love they created Pearl. Dimmesdale’s epiphany during these events show his fallibility and the struggle he had doing good ; therefore, it’s easily depicted as a rising action, through the frame story of Dimmesdale’s internal and external conflict, which leads to the climax of Dimmesdale’s confession.…

I am always amazed at how quick non-believers are to say they is not God when something bad happens, yet do not praise God when good things happen. If he is responsible for the evil and suffering, who is responsible for the good. Through my experiences, my good outweight my bad. I may have had times when money was tight, relationships were horrible, and even experiencing abuse, but they are not numbered more than my greatness. I use my marriage as an example, after a few weeks my husband started abusing me. I left after only four months. My current relationship has been the first in my life to last more than six months without splitting up. I have been unemployed with two children, but never hungry or homeless. I grew up very poor and now…

As humans, we like to have options. We like to be in control. Physician-assisted suicide is meant to be an end-of-life option. It allows people with terminal illness to take control in how they die. In the United States physician assisted suicide is legal in only a small number of states (Oregon, Vermont, California and Washington). Oregon was the first state to pass the Death with Dignity Act in 1997, and since then other states have adopted the Act. Physician assisted suicide can easily be confused with euthanasia (which currently is illegal in all United States). The two are very different. Physician assisted suicide is “when a physician…

Its impossible to reflect on the origins of evil without bringing up the concept of free will. God created man with this idea of choice; the choice to believe and obey, or the choice to disobey. It was this free will that allowed Adam and Eve to fall from their initial glory and introduce evil and suffering into the world. We can justify a large amount of sustained suffering by acknowledging that it actually benefits us and is not incompatible with God's loving nature. We learn lessons both physically and spiritually that allows us to grow and mature according to God. Some suffering is used to spark revival or for a great advancement in his kingdom, cause after all we're here for his glory alone. We have the end to look forward to when God defeats evil and suffering once and for all and we share in his glorified kingdom.…

They were consumed with the power of their religion and beliefs that they used it as a means to murder, victimized, and conquer the lands of others. They believed so highly in their God that the domination of their people was an act of natural order, an act that God gave them the power to accomplish. They used this ideology to justify the brutality that they inflicted on the Indigenous people. Every women, child, and man they killed, community they wiped out they used God as an excuse for their actions. However, this philosophy was a way to escape the responsibilities of their actions. Critics often ask why Christianity is any better than any other religion in the world. Of all the religions that exist, how can it be that only Christianity is true? If God exists, why can't God use different religions? Don't all paths lead to God? Skeptics ask these kinds of questions all the time, and unfortunately, few Christians have the answers. Therefore, in an attempt to demonstrate why Christianity is true and all other religious systems are false, I've prepared the following list of reasons for Christianity's superiority.…
