Height= 22
Volume= 10450
Block
Length= 16

Volume= 576
The ratio of the box to block is 0.0005512%. The volume of the block is 0.0005512 percent of the volume of the box.
Rutherford shot alpha particles at gold atoms. Once he realized that the alpha particles were hitting a concentrated positive mass, he developed the nuclear model of the atom. Next, he set out to determine the relative size of the nucleus compared to the rest of the atom. He reasoned that the smaller the nucleus, the less likely it was to be hit by an alpha particle. It took a great number of shots to actually hit the nucleus because the size of the atom was so much larger than the nucleus. Rutherford proposed that the "hit ratio" was approximately equal to the volume ratio. I tested the experiment but doing a data analysis, which I recorded my data at the top. I determined the volume and ratio of the box and block.
From my findings the percentages are not similar.
The gold foil experiment showed that there is a nucleus by how the positively charged particles were deflected and changed course by the foil. It showed that the atom is made of mostly empty space because most particles went through the foil. Some of the particles though were deflected to the sides of the container around the foil and some where even reflected back at the light almost. Rutherford theorized that there is a small nucleus that is positively charged that some particles came close to and were deflected away because the nucleus had an effect on them. Some particles hit the nucleus exactly and were reflected back only because it was positively charged if it had been negativly charged it wouldn't have went back to the light.
