As people, we tend to label others; jock, stoner, slut, we even get specific for example, attention whore. An attention whore is someone who loves attention a little too much. Girls tend to be the attention whores.
3 things, social media, attire/clothes, and attitude can identify attention whores. If we were to go through an attention whores phone we would find their messages full of boys who want to pursue this attention whore. Her social media will also be full of boys like these. The whore will lead these boys on because she loves the attention they are giving her. She thrives on it. If she does not get the attention she is used to or what attention she wants she will seek out the attention. Usually by posting a thirst trap on social media,

There are some common characteristics of sexual predators. Some warning signs are refusal to take responsibility for actions and blame others for failures, a sense of entitlement, low self-esteem, the need for power and control, lack of empathy, the inability to form intimate relationships with others, history of abuse, troubled childhood and even deviant sexual behavior and attitude. A few others would be that they offend where they won’t get caught, they are often in a relationship or married, and sometimes it is not always with strangers but with family members or people that they are close too. Some women strive for attention, and would pay any price to get it, but not all attention seekers do so because of personality disorders. Most sacrifice some of their personal values for the sake of attention. Therefore this usually is the result of an underlying disorder. Ariel Schulman, Henry Joost, and Yaniv Schulman, Ariel's brother, are the filmmakers that created Catfish, a documentary showing how even a seemingly normal, but troubled housewife who spent the majority of her days caring for two severely handicapped stepsons all the while creating an elaborate web of online deception until reality came crashing in (2010). In author Helen Shulman's short story, "Parents' Night," she gives readers a detailed glimpse of how far a married woman will go to seek the desired attention she craves from her not yet divorced previous husband (2008). Do they do it for the thrill, the need or are they seeking this additional attention for greater reasons? The film Catfish and the short novel, “Parents’ Night, both displayed abnormal behaviors of two seemingly normal married women.…

Guys certainly get away with things that us girls wouldn't even considering doing and vice versa. One example would be, a high school student who has already slept with five people enters a new school. What people will say about this person's sexual experiences depends on one factor: gender. If the person is a male, he will be admired and respected by his fellow friends and is generally referred to as "the player." However, if the person is a girl she will most likely be subjected to ridicule and disrespect by her peers. The guys will try to use her, hoping that they can get her into bed and she will generally be referred to as "the slut." If you're a guy and you sleep with everyone, you're automatically cool, but if you're a girl, you're automatically a slut. This player vs. slut philosophy is familiar to most students, but very unfair to the high school population of females.…

Being a ‘tomboy’ is acceptable, but only for pre-pubescent girls. It is a stage that a girl is supposed to grow out of when she becomes older and assumes her prescribed role as wife and mother. However, there is no corresponding word for a boy who enjoys activities that have traditionally been associated with girls. The satire piece explains that it is not a common phenomenon for boys to manifest a desire to be girls; therefore, there is no word to describe the few who have this desire. I think the word does not exist because our society has very strict notions of masculinity, and boys who prefer girl toys, clothing, and activities go against those notions and should not be acknowledged. They are giving up their maleness, their position of authority, in order to take on a weaker, lesser role — the role of a…

“Hunger”, by Lan Samantha Chang, is a cautionary tale of an immigrant Chinese family in this complex story about unrelenting hunger, oppression, love and loss. Narrated by Min; the deeply unhappy and obedient wife of Tian, a gifted violinist, finds work as a music teacher in New York, but ultimately fails to land a permanent job at the school. Driven by personal failure and his unrelenting hunger for the violin Tian cruelly forces his two daughters, Anna and Ruth to play the violin, so they can follow in his footsteps. Tian’s inability to separate himself from his violin ends up destroying his family. Chang uses Tian’s obsessive hunger for the violin as a symbol of his identity, showing us that we must be careful not to become so focused on one thing that we lose all sense of self and family.…

Ever since we are young people, men and women alike are taught the definitions of what being a “man” or “woman” should look/act like and the concepts behind these definitions. Little boys are taught to be the initiating dominant protectors of the world, literally fighting for their beliefs and wants, and handling the finances of our survival, while young girls are taught to be the submissive, meek, homemakers, raising the children and keeping things in order, staying silent “behind the scenes.” Through these misconceptions, our society has coined terms such as “bitch,” “whore,” “slut,” “fag,” and “dyke” into our vocabulary. It has also given rise to such things as “The Purity Myth” and now, more recently, “Rape Culture.”…

    Stereotypes and Athlete

Stereotypes are different thoughts that a variation of people hold about people who are different from them. A stereotype can be associated with a single word or slogan; such as nerd, or jock. Stereotypes can be expressed in either a negative or positive way. Most people apply stereotypes in a negative way to make them feel more superior over others. The category that most people would place me under would be the classification of an athlete or jock. The jock title that I have been placed under has been with me pretty much my entire life. I have played sports since I was four years old when I first started playing soccer and tee ball. From that moment on I have been active in almost every sport that my school has to offer. In high school the title was strongly addressed to me when the upper classmen did not know who I was. They would refer to me as the freshmen softball player or the soccer goalie. I have held the title strongly for a very long while. Even though I do not play sports now in college I still get asked if I play sports just because of the way I dress; I guess when you are just use to having that title it sticks with you. The category of a jock can possess many different stereotypes from dumb jock, lesbians, and also stuck up popular kids and many more.…
