Detail:A living arrangement that maximizes independence and self-determination, especially of disabled persons living in a community instead of in a medical facility. b. Detail: A social movement asserting that people with disabilities should have the same civil rights and life choices as people without disabilities. B. Main Point: Independent and dependent person 1. Pattern of Organization: Compare and contrast a. Detail:Free from the influence, guidance, or control of another or others; self-reliant. An Independent Person is someone who doesn 't always need others. Others include influence, guidance, control, etc. You can rely on yourself, instead of constantly looking to others for affirmation, or to help you. You can fend for yourself, and you can do so well. b. Detail: Dependent people cannot or will not live without others. Doesn’t know how to stand on their own foots.

Closing Attention-getter: If you have trouble finding time alone, being independent in mind and self is a state. If you’re able to think original thoughts, make decisions for yourself, and just being yourself in general, then you have independent traits – therefore, that doesn’t compromise your responsibilities at all if you’re just being who you are. Even reading in bed or having some alone time to collect your thoughts for 20 minutes is a good use of figurative independence. Just be you and everything will fall into place.
