them or he may dislike the situation he got put in. For example, when he is defending Tom Robinson. He really wanted to get angry, but instead he just stayed calm, told the truth, and kept moving forward.
As one of the strongest characters in the book Atticus always stands up for what he believes in and doesn't care what others think. Especially when everyone is judging him for standing up for Tom. Even though Atticus knew he was going to lose the case but that didn't stop him from trying to prove Tom innocent. Atticus is the type of person to look at everyone equally and tell them that they are the same as everyone else because we are all humans just trying to live. He once said to scout that he wouldn't feel right if he didn't defend Tom in the case. The Maycomb is a very one sided town and because Atticus was on Tom's side he almost got beat up but because of Scout calling the guys out individually he was not beaten up. The chances were very close of him getting beat up (pg.153-154). Atticus never look at those people as bad people he believes there is good in everyone. He teaches not only his children but the people of Maycomb as well.
Being a single father sometimes can be very difficult but Atticus just shakes it off and makes it a life lesson to Jem and Scout.
He is a very good example of a great father. Sometimes he is more of a teacher and guide through life rather than a father to Scout. His style of fathering is very different but in a very good way. He has taught his kids his values such as not looking at others differently so pretty much they are color blind. Jem and Scout are a lot like Atticus they are very respectful, Stand up for what they believe in and they always try to do the right thing. In my opinion this is how every kid should be raised i feel like everyone needs to know their values and needs to stand up for what they believe in and not judge others.
The moral of the story in this book is very useful for many life lessons such as treating everyone with respect and that standing up for what you believe can get you far in life. Therefore, treating people how you want to be treated and being respectful also looking at both the goodness and badness of people but always being positive towards them. Just like Atticus taught the children. Therefore, in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus shows value when he acts the same every where he goes, he stands up for what's he believes in, and how he treats his own
children.
