BACKGROUND
Aumshinkriyo was a religious group which was considered as a religion in JAPAN (1987-2000). Aum’s religious beliefs were a combination of Hinduism and Buddhism, with their yoga like praying rituals and superstitious concepts like karma. Their concept of hell was Christian-like and they considered their supreme leader Shoko Ashara as the most enlightened one who can look into the future.
Aumshinkriyo was initially a yoga studio and a publishing house started by Ashara in 1955 which in 1987 was named as AumShinkriyo and gained official status of a religious corporation in 1989. They believed that Aum has a justified war with the evil.

This attack shocked the world and delivered a message that the terrorist groups are capable of cultivating a chemical bomb in densely populated urban areas. Previously terrorist groups targeted political aims but this was the time when they targeted masses and resulted in greater number of deaths.
In April 1990 Aum attacked the Japanese parliament with botulinum toxin aerosol resulting in minor injuries and in June 1993 it attacked the prince wedding ceremony.
CURRENT WORKING
At the time of the deadly subway attack, Aum cult claimed to have more than 9000 members in Japan and 40000 members worldwide. Its current state in unknown however it has 2000 followers at present and operates only in Japan at the moment but previously has its roots in countries like Srilanka, United states, Germany, Australia, Russia and Ukraine. It was founded by Rabi Meri Kahane and followed the ideology of ultra-nationalism, fueled by orthodox religious teachings.
In 1990, the terrorist group split into two factions, Kach and Kahane Chai. This was after the assassination of Kahane.
Both groups are suspected to have less than a hundred members, yet despite their faction size European Union, America and Canada consider both of these organizations as terrorist organizations.
MAJOR ATTACKS
In 1992, both of these parties were noted for their support of a grenade attack on a butchers’ market, inside the old Jerusalem city.
In 1994, a Kach supporter shot and killed twenty nine Muslims who were worshipping inside a mosque.
CURRENT WORKING
Kahane Chai was dissolved in 1994, however; they indirectly support a paramilitary wing known as “Jewish Defense League”
Even after so many years, the United States of America, still considers Kahane Chai as a threat. According to them:
