What is that?
It is a natural light in the sky like a luminous glow. It is caused by energetic particles that enter to the atmosphere from the sky.
On earth, the energetic particles that make auroras come from the geospace environment, the magnetosphere. These energetic particles are most electrons but protons also make aurora.
The colors: they are created mainly by electrons, protons and solar winds ( it is a stream of charge particles ejected from the sun.
In which country can we see aurora? In Alaska Canada Denmark, Scotland, Greenland, Finland, Russia and much more paces and countries which are located in high northern latitudes, during the winter.
In this picture we can see a recently aurora, its appeared in Greenland the last January 15
Does the aurora have any effect on the environment? Yes but limited to the high latitude atmosphere. since the aurora takes place at about 90-100 km altitude, only the atmosphere at or above that height is affected by aurora. Some ionization may occur a few tens of kilometers further down, and can have effects on the radio wave propagation
Does the aurora exist in another planet? Yes in Venus Jupiter marts Saturn and lo( a moon from Jupiter). Auroras in Jupiter and Saturn are the strongest of all. When an aurora appears in any of these planets, it creates a lot of magnetic fields and radio emissions causing anomalies
Leyends of the auroras:
The aurora borealis has intrigued people from ancient times, and still does today. The Eskimos and Indians of north America have many stories to explain these northern lights.
The point barrow Eskimos: Was the only Eskimo group who considered the aurora an evil thing. In the past they carried knives to keep it
