The concentration camps were created in 1933-1945 by Hitler and the Nazis. Auschwitz was the largest concentration camp. Hitler and the Nazis made Jews and people they did not like build the camps. It was a harsh time for Jews because they went into hiding, living in poor conditions. People got diseases because they had no food which is a reason why most of them died.
