The Holocaust
1.) Approximately 6 million Jews were killed during The Holocaust.
2.) The Nazi’s came to power in Germany in 1930-1933.
3.) The Nazi’s viewed the Jews as greedy people; they thought they would destroy the economy and Germany.
4.) Besides the Jews the Nazi’s also persecuted Gypsies, Gays, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mentally Ill, Handicaps, and everyone else who opposed the Nazi’s and Hitler.
5.) A concentration camp was a place where Jews and others from the Holocaust that were targeted, were sent. There, they had little food to no food, and shelters normally built for 2 or 3, had 30 to 40 people packed inside just one. They were also called death camps because people died there all the time. Mostly of exhaustion, starvation, poison from gas chambers, and diseases. Their bodies were dumped in ditches and burned, or other places that were easy to hide.
6.) Genocide is the intentional killing of a large group of people, like the Jews.
7.) During The Holocaust Jewish children were killed when they arrived in killing centers. Children, usually over age 12, were used as workers and test subjects of medical experiments. Most Jewish children died from starvation and diseases, as well as lack of clean clothing and proper shelter.
8.) The Ghettos were gated cities were the Germans placed the Jewish population and forced them to live in miserable
conditions.
9.) Something interesting about Hitler was that when he was born his mom wanted an abortion but her doctor talked her into keeping the baby, and another interesting fact is that Hitler’s first love was a Jewish girl.
10.) The Nazi’s killed the Jews in many ways, including gas chambers and shooting them.
