To communicate through writing with others the Mayan civilization used hieroglyphics. Hopkins says in “Mayan Civilization”, lines 21-23, “...they developed a complex hieroglyphic writing that they had used to used to record historical and religious events;they had a mathematical system based on the unit 20.” not only could they write they also could solve problems using their math system. This would help them in the long run because how are they supposed to make deals without communicating with the buyer. No one would know what the other wants. Inca civilization did not use a writing system. Instead they made a form of communication called “quipu”. For example, it says in lines 18-20 of “The Inca”, “the inca did not have a writing system, but they were able to keep track of trade goods and stockpiles with a special system of knotted strings called quipu” It seems impossible to communicate without writing now a days, but the forward thinkers who invented quipu are the ones who definitely contributed to the success of the Inca. Unlike the the Mayan and Inca, the Aztecs were able to communicate using pictures. They used the pictures to “record political and religious history”, says line 21 of “Aztecs”. These picture told a story better than words could
