Teaching Philosophy: Building a real-world strategy is not about conjuring up some idea that might work. It is not guesswork or hope or wishful thinking, but rather is the well-considered outcome of appropriate-to-task CHOICES involving the PROPER use of methods, concepts, information, theory, and practical experience. Strategy is also not a generic enterprise, but rather a context-specific one enfolding this particular entity (individual, firm, agency, group, society) into this specific context at this specific - present and forecast future - time and place. Strategy is about futures.
The standard for this course is very high: In this course, I hold you to proofs not hopes, assessment not guesswork, thoughtfulness not rhetoric. The professor, department & Fox School of Business expect professional quality work that demonstrates your prior learning and future potential. I GRADE AT THAT LEVEL.
