Like all other macaws, scarlet macaws are intelligent and therefore very quick at learning different tricks. They are natural performers and need daily interaction or else they quickly become bored. If you don't let your macaw out of its cage on at least a daily basis, they can become aggressive and nippy or develop bad and harmful habits. Bad habits that can be cultivated without proper training and socialization include feather
plucking and excessive screeching.
When your macaw is screaming, it is most likely out of boredom. However, the worst thing you can do in this situation is give your macaw what it wants when it starts screaming. Once it learns that screeching is an effective way of getting things, it will never stop.
Green wing macaws are one of the largest parrots, measuring up to 36 inches at maturity. They are very beautiful and look similar to the scarlet macaw, except for the fact that green wing macaws have green bands on their wings rather than yellow. Although they are larger than most parrots, they possess a fairly steady and fun-loving temperament, less likely than other smaller parrots to nip you or get aggressive.
You should feed your green wing macaw a varied diet that doesn't consist too heavily of seeds and nuts. This is because they contain a large amount of fat which can lead to health problems for your macaw in the future. The base diet you should feed your macaw is organic pellets but it should be mixed up by adding a variety of fruits, vegetables, leaves and barks to ensure that your bird gets all the nutrients it needs.
