Senior Proprietor, Francie Franklin was found dead in her bakery in Pleasant Grove this morning. No known survivors.
Police Chief Wilburn Cole, reports that Franklin was expected to deliver a wedding cake and when the bride’s mother went to the bake shop she found the front door open and the little shop in shambles.
When officials arrived, Franklin was in the kitchen shot dead.
Kenton County Homicide Investigator Kelton Kelly says that Franklin was shot with a .22 caliber bullet.
Officials reported that it must have happen before midnight because her television set was still on, and she always turns it off after the later movie. No fingerprints were found at the scene. However, a strange, unidentified red wool ski cap was found under the body and the pistol is missing from the drawer under the cash register.
Franklins’ body was taken to Smiths Funeral Parlor for an autopsy.
Keaton County Coroner Ransom Cranwell reports that death was from a single gunshot wound and that there were no other injuries.
Arrangements are pending. Franklin was 68.
She started her business 20 years ago under the name Francie’s Fancies.
“She was always proud of it. She was just an old maid who loved everyone and everyone loved her”, Said a former employee.
