Also Competitive eating is a tradition.
According to “5 Things you didn’t know about Competitive Eating?” by Liz Neporent. Nathan's competitions date back to 1916.(Neporent 1) Also New York mayor Bill De Blasio does the honor of weighting in each contestant before the event.(Neporent 1) Both of these examples show that competitive eating has become a part of American history and should not leave. In conclusion competitive eating has been going on on for centuries and should not be stopped.
Some may say that people die at these events but according to MCcarry and Braun, these incidences are very rare (MCcary, Braun 2). This evidence shows that this happens very rarely and does not happen at every contest.
In conclusion competitive eating should not be stopped because of how safe it is and that it has been a tradition for so many
years.
