He shares a paradox which is “The answer to slavery was already embedded in our constitution “(1). It’s hard to believe that this is true, some people believe that slavery still exist in our country no matter what race it still exist. He briefly explains that “the constitution had at its very core the ideal of equal citizenship under the law” (2). Our country’s heart stated this idea of equal citizenship, something most of America doesn’t know. He wants the people to know that even though there’s still hate, we can all be a union that can be perfected overtime. All it takes is a new leader and time to perfect this union we all dream of. I personally find this ironic and so does Obama, because there has been a lot of progress made in this society/country, The most important part of change is the people, the people play a big role into bringing change into this country. Change happens anywhere at any time, people just don’t realize it happening around them. Change will happen, and it will happen the right way without riots or any fighting involved. Now “we want to talk about the men and women of every color and creed who serve together and fight together and bleed together under the same proud American flag” (7). The flag that all the strong and brave soldiers died for, and the flag that we represent as a country. With the symbolism of men and women serving under the same flag, it really brings hope and unity between both sexes, back then women never served in the army, but look at them now, it is historic to see a woman doing a man’s job. Men and women are no different, and Senator Barack Obama wants the people to see that, the only difference between both sexes is our features, but that doesn’t stop a woman from serving the country. As a country, we should always show respect and appreciation to those who serve our country.
