Barak Obama Case Study
The reading & Voice thread lecture was great. The case example of the young community organizer, Barak Obama, The Pastoral care, and pastoral theology is a connection to give healing and good news to those who are needed. For Pastoral care first, the person has a concern for others, element of courage based on trust in God, tenderness, skill in leadership are essential and what models of ministry we are offering. The example of good Samaritan and Jesus’s healing to the people are the root of Pastoral care. The parable of Good Samaritan is teaching us that some time in Pastoral care, did like the priest who neglected the wounded person “A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.” …show more content…
Another concept is vital in Barak Obama, is Racism. How badly people were treated especially when a white man loudly told bartender that he should not have to drink good liquor next to a nigger. I believe this kind of thinking is still here but now its difficult to announce loudly. I am surprised how peacefully & nicely his father delta this situation. He simply walked over to the man, smiled, and told him about the folly of bigotry, the promise of the American dream, and the universal rights of the man. Instead of fight or anger he talked politely which is a good example of family learning. There are some more incidents of racism and ultimately at the ends the reaction was also there when the children were chanting loudly. “Niger lover! Dirty yankee! Niger lover”. The family system young Community Organizer, Barak Obama is based on the roles with the family. Apart from everything the pastoral theology based on empathy for the human/famliy and the ministry needs to be done within the families with all their joys and sorrows. It should be like a ministry of love on the face of trauma. The beautiful thing about the shepherding image is that it instructs us on the nature of pastoral leadership with deep sensitive insight. One of the big challenges for any shepherd is to provide nourishment (water, food, rest) for their flocks in harsh environments, environments that often-withheld essential elements for life and flourishing. A good shepherd knows where to find pastures that are not only lush but safe enough for his flocks to rest in

This article talks about the second-term curse; the perceived tendency of second terms of recent U.S presidents to be less successful than their first terms. According to the "curse", the second terms of recent presidents have usually been plagued by a major scandal, policy inertia, some sort of catastrophe, or other problems. In the article “Second Chances”, the author suggests some ideas about how President Obama can avoid a unsuccessful second-term. He talks about the failures of George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, Woodrow Wilson, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and most recently George W. Bush, who were the victims of the ‘curse’ and by looking at these two-term stars, he explains how and why Obama might be more blessed than cursed.…

Obamas address to the nation is a very well developed speech with flowing thought and extremely critical and vital information being discussed. A subject that may trouble one is the actually effect of this speech. “Did it take wings” one might say or did it actually work or play out. Many issues were mentioned but was anything actually done upon these issues. A person can use as much inclining, ear catching words but if there is no action towards those words, then they are dead. “Actions speak louder than words.” President Obama brought up matters that the nation is struggling with correct, but what are the actions taken? Having experience in the ministry field and serving other people, I have learned one thing. A person has to role up your selves to get something done, meaning hard work. Political debates, big figureheads talking and not getting anything done will never solve any real problems. Barack Obama said, “We are not addressing the real issues” (Obama, 2008) and I am in accord with him. The real issues are actions not…

This study arrangement is a concern with mentoring spiritual leaders. “Shepherding those who shepherds the Lord’s flock. The author, Edward Smither, opens with a question of how could a fifth-century African bishop be relevant to the twentieth-first century?” When it comes to mentoring spiritual leaders, Smither uses Aurelius Augustine or Augustine of Hippo, as an example of how to mentor others. Smither mentions that “so many pastors are in a struggle with isolation because they have no one to mentor or nurture their souls.”…

He grew up with a single mom and his grandparents, which in today’s era is common. When a person grows up with his or her grandparents, they are taught the old ways- respect, honesty, and discipline. This has helped him become a role model and a respectable person that everyone can look up to. Barack Obama also grew up with humble ways. Since his family struggled to make ends meet, he learned that life was not easy. However he developed the character qualities of self-reliance, self confidence, respect, and dignity. He worked his way through life by taking loans for college, and working to pay them off. He as well mentions that he rejected job opportunities at Wall Street, so then he could instead travel to devastated parts of the nation due to major company lay-offs. Due to his learning’s from his early life and to his dedication to his people, Barack Obama is portrayed as a common man who will represent the common people of the United States of…

President Obama’s ability to close the racial fissure has met both agreement and opposition, I am going to discuss both of these. It could be said that the election of president Obama closed the racial divide to some extent. Obama, by virtue of his abilities proved the racial discrimination to be baseless and also proved that a person can touch the zenith by virtue of his abilities. Secondly Obama’s election showed that white Americans are willing to elect an African American president not due to his race but his plans for the future of America. Obama's election to President was a very important change in the American self-image. It showed to everyone that white Americans could vote for and elect an African-American to the highest…

President Obama is an extraordinary figure who has done some good things in bad times, and some great things under impossible circumstances. As the first black president he has faced enormous difficulties and has had to weather a steady downpour of bad faith from the right wing and racist resistance from bigoted quarters of the country. He has been torn between America’s noble ideals of democracy and its cruel realities of race — a tension he rode into office, and one that occasionally defeated his desire to reconcile the best and worst halves of the nation he governs.…

Firstly, President Obama uses an ethical appeal known as ethos. An ethical appeal establishes a speaker or the writer’s credibility. He states that “I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather…and a white grandmother. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slave owners…I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents”. I agree with what President Obama has shared about how race has an impact on his life. I think he establishes himself as a man of many races who can relate to almost every race in America. By doing so he shows how he is the perfect man for the job to deal with the concerning issues on racism in America.…

    My Philosophy of Ministry

    • 430 Words

The second part of my philosophy of ministry is to train leaders. A leader in the church is a godly servant who is influencing others in the church. Building leadership development in the local church is vital to the continual growth of the ministry (Acts 6: 3-4; 2 Tim. 2:2). I want to always be in the process of training individuals and preparing them to step into a leadership position. The leadership training process needs to include not only theological study and “hands-on” involvement, but community and relationship development as well.…
