Fans determine the market for professional basketball. The entertainment factor is most important to fans. Offering season tickets, theme nights, student nights, church nights, etc. keep fans engaged, and draw fans to the games. While the market can fluctuate the key components that have proven to be critical are the players, their performance and the overall entertainment factor encourage fans to purchase tickets and watch the games on television. Holding the interest of the fans with heroic players, dramatic events, great plays and social activity will keep the fans demanding more and keep the market for professional basketball thriving. The fans attendance to NBA basketball games provide the demand for tickets, and merchandise. Also, the interest shown in individual NBA clubs influence demand for that particular club and for networks to provide their games. The NBA clubs are responsible for supplying the games that will generate merchandise and broadcastings. This makes the fans the demanders and the NBA clubs the suppliers.
When high profile players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Dwayne Wade are added to the equation the demand for their NBA club increases. The more popular a player becomes, the more the demand increases. When the team plays poorly, the demand decreases at the NBA club level.
