Batman As A Christ Like Figure
About a week ago, I watched one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies of the year; batman v superman: Dawn of Justice. Starring Ben Affleck as Batman, and Henry Cavill as Superman, this theatrical masterpiece today has reached around 800$ million worldwide, but has been significantly dropping ever since; a drop of around 60% after the second weekend since its release date. This film, alongside its action packed plot, has shown a significant amount of Christian symbolism, which adds a religious and delicate touch to the storyline. Also, in comparison to any other Superman movie, this movie specifically portrays Superman as a Christ like figure, which appeals greatly to the audience.

This movie is supposedly based on the comic book entitled “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” however many movie critics and comic book fanatics found the movie to be considerably dissimilar from the comic, which enraged most and fluctuated the ratings for the film in a negative way. It has

During the course of the entire movie, Superman is seen as a Christ like figure. His ultimate power, his ability to save the people and his ongoing love for humankind are characteristics that shadow the ones of our Lord Jesus Christ. Just like Christ, Superman had many believers who supported him and glorified him and many non- believers who hated him and wanted him dead. Although Superman wanted the best for Humankind (just like Christ), people still doubted his intentions all because he is all powerful. Despite his constant effort to save mankind, humans judged him, accused him and took for granted what Superman has done for them. It wasn’t until his final battle that people started to have faith in him and trust him. And finally, after his death, more people believed and regretted ever accusing Superman of wrongdoings, just as the right hand thief has seen who Christ really was on the cross and believed right before he

Superman is possibly one of the most known superheroes in the world. But in the past six years the superhero movie industry has exploded. At least one major blockbuster superhero movie is now released about every six months and countless people flood into the movie theater to see each and every one. Prior to the explosion of popularity I would dare say Superman was the single most known superhero in the world, but now he has to compete with other superheroes like Ironman, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, And Batman. What are the underlying themes and morals expressed within the story of Superman? The purpose of this paper will be to use Social Learning Theory to analyze the theological connections found in The Dark Knight Rises and how it shapes the reality of kids. According to Anthony Mills (2013), the author of American Theology, Superhero Comics, and Cinema: The Marvel of Stan Lee and the Revolution of a Genre, “…movies are part of the toolbox that many people use as they respond to and give shape to their lives. As such, they can be a significant ingredient in a person’s individual formation” (p.103). Many kids admire the superheroes that they see on television and in movies and as kids idolize superheroes they become part of their identity.…

I can recall that it as though it were yesterday similar to each Saturday, enabling my robe to give me exceptional powers and change me into a super legend "“DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA Batman…!” My folks' room was adjoining mine this night; I was in my room watching toons sitting on the edge of my bed when abruptly I heard my shouting like she never had. I kept running into their room into the lobby entrance; I saw this frightening scene has been scratched in my brain from that point onward. I cried in light of the fact that both of my folks were contending such that it really furious my sentiments. My Father's hands were put around my Mother's neck, stifling the life out of her. I remained between them powerless… on the grounds that what he was doing to my mother, I knew it wasn't right, in the wake of standing immovably between them, he at…

When you go to a movie theater you see all kinds of different people. Whether or not it females or males, young or old, American or non-American. There are different perspectives in which the movie will be seen. I think a good example would be the movie 2012. It is a science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich and distributed by Columbia Pictures. 2012 was a global film that all people were interested to see. This movie came out in 2009 and when it was in the making in 2008, all of my friends were already talking about the movie but what really surprised me were the reasons that they were going to see the movie for. Benjamin Trujillo’s, a family friend, reason to go see the movie was so that his wife and kids can see the way the world is going to end if they don’t behave according to the bible. Benjamin grew up as a very potent Christian and his wife was not that very religious so therefore he…

Movies for the most part are a source of entertainment that utilizes a combination of gripping, thrilling and adventurous scenes in a believable fashion to satisfy an audience of intrigued individuals. The viewers’ response and opinion of the given movie is highly valued when it comes to deciding superior movie charts and allocating awards at the Grammies, and therefore it is exceptionally important for producers to create work that will leave the audience astounded and content. This is the case of Ron Howard’s production, ‘the Da Vinci Code’- a movie that quickly made its way to the top of the pyramid concerning its controversial standpoint on Christianity and temporarily crushing a two thousand year old widespread religious belief. The power of the movie derives from Dan Browns publication several years…

The masked vigilante wages battle against a new gang calling themselves the Mutants who dragged Gotham City into an unprecedented era of urban decay and corruption. The concept of the proto-messiah is once again invoked when Wayne reappears as Batman and saves the city when the police and politicians have failed the people. The narrative of The Dark Knight Returns is a satirized portrayal of the American political and cultural environment of the 80s which Frank Miller tries to invoke by placing a clear depiction of President Reagan as a major part of the storyline. The political themes reveal an attempt by Miller to add layers of cultural and historical meaning to the superhero narrative. The Dark Knight Returns portrays Batman in a mature and hyper realistic manner that he is almost unrecognizable from the campy Batman of the 1960s.…
