DC Comics is one of the largest and most successful companies operating in American comic books. In the late 1930s, DC Comics presented the world with two of the greatest superheroes known to comic book history. They created two characters, Superman and Batman, to restore peace and justice back into the world, one villain at a time. While Superman and Batman share the same mission to defeat evil and to never kill the enemy, they differ in terms of their superhero capabilities and the villains they face.
To begin with, Superman originally comes from a disintegrated planet, Krypton. He was launched in a vessel to Earth for safety and landed in Smallville, Kansas where the Kent family discovered him. He grew up with a normal childhood on a farm, but in his teen years he finally discovered his God-like powers. On the other hand, Batman originated deep within the Wayne Family at the crime-infested, heart of Gotham City. Unfortunately, he witnessed the murder of his parents at a young age. In fact, Superman and Batman both wear a suit of armor, but appear differently on the outside.
Superman wears a suit that is red, blue, and yellow to represent power. His suit has a large “S” across the chest. He also wears a red cape attached to his back to represent flight. By contrast, Batman’s suit is yellow, gray, and black to represent the “dark knight” who fights crime late at night. He wears a bat symbol across his chest and on his belt which has several gadgets hidden underneath. Unlike Superman, Batman wears a helmet to shield his face from combat. Their appearances seem comical to the enemy, but their suits allow them fit for
battle.
In addition to their different suits, Superman and Batman both have secret identities to remain hidden from society. Superman’s secret identity is a man named Clark Kent, who is a local newspaper journalist. Clark goes so far out of his way to be different from Superman, and he often fools everyone around him. For example, he wears glasses and suits to hide his physical features. On the contrary, Batman is secretly known as Bruce Wayne, a billionaire businessman. He is primarily seen during the day and is only seen at night for public appearances. Additionally to his playboy mannerism, he spends lavish amounts of money on luxury materials. No one recognizes him as Batman at night because his voice changes to a deeper tone. Superman and Batman’s secret identities enable their ability to fight crimes effectively.
If Superman and Batman were faced to battle each other, it would be hard to determine who would claim the victory. Superman was born with powers and the ability to face enemies, but Batman’s strong-will and perseverance puts him at an advantage. All in all, they represent symbols of strength to those who have been stricken of harm. In fact, both superheroes show acts of courage that is displayed to ordinary citizens all over the world. Superman and Batman have made heroic impacts on many readers for several decades.
