Taylor Greer has much strength and a few weaknesses. Taylor is an independent, young woman who has always been able to take care of herself. She spent her entire youth avoiding pregnancy, only to find herself an instant mother one night at a bar in Oklahoma. She plays a "mother bear" kind of role in the story she will go to any means to protect her daughter, and to keep Turtle with her. All Taylor's actions are encouraged by this conviction. Jax says at one point that Taylor "enjoys" him, but she "loves" Turtle. Indeed, Taylor instinctually reacts in terms of Turtle, and not in terms of Jax. On her dates in Seattle, she does not even consider leaving Turtle at home. She is a rigid and determined mother.…

According to an American novelist Richard Bach, he stated “The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life.” It explains the bonds between the parents and their children are important that needs to be nurtured with effort and time or major problems may occur and bonds may weaken within the family. With the Hadley family, the relationship between the children, Peter and Wendy, and their biological parents, George and Lydia are weak because the communication structure between them is non-existent. The family relies too much on their home that automatically takes care of them and their nursery that telepathically shows the children’s thought. Ray Bradbury, the author of “The Veldt” explains George and Lydia give no boundaries to their children that results to spoiling them such as denying letting them go to New York and the threat of turning off the nursery and the house itself forever that leads the children to dispose of them without remorse.…

Unity and reliability in a family is testable, particularly during hard times as it’s seen in The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, where the themes of isolation and dehumanization are strongly shown. The concept of family love being absolute is arguable, predominately after the transformation Gregor Samsa goes through which turns him into a huge bug. Kafka implies through Gregor’s unlucky dilemma and his family’s response, that family strength can be frail. It becomes immediately evident how the metamorphosis affects the family, as the members of the family go through a transformation as well.…
