It’s clear that government and big industry continue to take as usual for profits at the expense of us all. William’s look at the relationship of what it took to construct an agreement between the indigenous people and our government by creating Bears Ears “was a healing moment of historic importance” (Williams2) along with “ A unique agreement was reached between tribes and the U.S. government” (Williams 2) this exemplifies what can be done for our nation's people not the corporations. The author presents the fact that no president has eliminated a designation of a national monument or diminish its size in the past 50 years if Trump is successful “Bears Ears could turn into the next Standing Rock” (Williams 2) which I concur. Once one area is revised where does it stop? The fact “that forty national parks are vulnerable to gas and oil extraction” (Williams 4) makes me believe more is coming, regarding the repeal of the public lands policy. In conclusion, we must stop the insurgence of the government and corporations taking the land for their profits while destroying it in their wake. We need to invest in expanding technology for energy instead of using up the land, along with the continuation of working with the very people our ancestors took the land from in the first
