My limbs start to wobble like gelatin because of my extensive use of high heels and deprivation of sleep. Figuratively of course but all the same. While 10 pm is the time that most young adults get ready for their parties and extravagant nights, this is my usual wined down time because I have to get up and go to the hospital at 4 in the morning. Even though I am not needed for essential problems from 4 am - 6 am, and I usually just rest at the nurse desk, I still like to be in my very best condition in case a patient needs me.

He knows what I said makes sense, but he continues to act like it doesn't. I attempt to push him off because I had enough of this but he throws his bottle next to my head leaving beer splatted on the walls and floor along with glass shards. I weigh my options and decide it's time for me to get up and leave, but I know it won't be that easy. I get up painfully yet quietly and I grab the only lamp in the living room and smash it across his head. He instantly falls to the ground with a grunt and then a loud thump as the only source of light fades out and darkness finds it way in. I wipe tears and blood from my face. My stomach churns with sorrow and slight regret.
