A “healing note for a shattered nation” said by reporter Lucy Craft ("Beethoven's 9Th Symphony Still A Hit In Japan"), “endlessly satisfying, interesting, and moving”, “music being the universal language almost comes true with
Beethoven” said by Leonard Bernstein ("Leonard Bernstein Performs Beethoven's Ode To Joy"), and as Sach’s argues a "declaration in favor of universal brotherhood" (Carlson). No wonder why this work is so popular across the world, it speaks to everyone, and provides a monumental purpose of universal understanding. The words in the poem Ode to Joy can be deciphered in many ways referencing religion, life, fortune, love, and happiness. It also can appreciated by many nations and cultures as the musical expressions define the ubiquitous feelings shared by human beings.
