Being A Twin
Most people think that being a twin is the best thing in my life, when in reality, it is one of the worst. First of all, people ask questions. Strangers will walk up to Emily and I and ask us if we are twins. Second, I share many things with my sister. Thirdly, I am a literal freak of nature. When people see anything out of normal, they tend to ask questions. Emily and I have had strangers walk up to us and ask us if we are twins. We have been shopping and the cashiers have asked us if we are twins. A girl at music camp walked up to us and asked if we were ‘the’ twins, I hope there weren’t any rumors about us. Every year at school teachers will ask what’s the best way to tell us apart. The questions and comments are endless.

Until I was three years old, I was having fun as a toddler by myself. Although, a month before my fourth birthday, I received a beautiful baby sister named Kinsley Ann Kemper. Little did I know that within about nine years she was going to become an ornery child. When she was little, my parents had to set rules for me to follow because they knew that I could follow the rules that they gave me, while they were taking care of Kinsley. Also, when I was three, I started to go to dance. My first year of dance, I got an award for the dancer of the year, which made me very overjoyed and excited at the same time. I can still remember…

On any given day when I am out with my 17 year old twin daughters, we can get approached by complete strangers that ask, “Are they twins?” This question is usually followed up by a second common question, “Are they identical?” Many strangers are shocked when I respond that my daughters are not identical twins. Although my daughters, Lauren and Mariah, share many similarities such as height, weight, skin complexion, and hair length, they are vastly different individuals. These differences can be seen in their style of dress, personalities and personal hobbies.…

This has led scientists to research how far inherited genes affect our behaviour. An extensive report into identical and non-identical twins came to the conclusion that identical twins share the same genetic make-up and have the same behavioural pattern which is encouraged by shared social environment, that is, treated the same by family, friends, teachers at school, whereas non-identical twins are treated less differently because they do not posses identical features (Christiansen, 77).…

In psychological attempts to conduct experiments of genetic influences on personality and behavior in the environment psychologists have come to the conclusion that the best way is by using identical twins. There are strong similarities identical twins show in intelligence, personality, and many other characteristics, regardless of being raised in separate homes. I believe from my past experiences with my development as a person compared to my older sisters, we are a perfect example of nurture. People sometimes assume what might not be real. I took my daughter age 3, my niece age 4, and my cousin’s daughter age 6 to the mall by myself. My own reaction was “would I be able to handle this kids by myself at a public place.” We left and as soon as I started walking through the mall the first reaction was everyone looking at me as if I was weird or I had something on my face, my kids were asking to go to the Disney Store nothing much, no screaming or doing nothing out of the ordinary, I had asked myself why everywhere I went they will just turn and look at the kids and then at me. I had figure that maybe it was because I was alone with three small kids, until I overheard someone say “so young and with three kids” I couldn’t believe what their reaction was for me having three kids. It is unbelievable how people will just assume that they were all mine.…
