Did you ever think being an electrician can be a hard or easy career? Being an electricianis pretty easy because in William M.Davies, Jr.Career and Technical high school has taught me many ways in helping me to be an electrician. In the electrical trade you can choice from residential, commercial and industrial. An electrician is a person who installs and maintains electrical equipment. In William M.Davies, Jr.Career and Technical high school I choose the shop electrical because I thought it would be a great way for me to learn something and something that my family member doesn't know how to do.Residential can be a …show more content…
pain but if you pay attention and get your work done you can do it and learn new methods of doing it faster. In my future I hope I can succeed and work in residential because I really enjoy it and I understand it more.
A residential electrician does in his career is to plan a diagram, install, and repair electrical fixtures.
In the other hand they also control equipment like relays, switches and breaker panels.They also bend and cut pipe and pull wire through the pipe. residential electrician use megger and ohmmeter and other testing equipment to check if the component is live and also check for continuity to ensure the safety. In this time residential electricians can make an hour rate of$13.57 - $34.61 but most of them make
$20.00 an hour. They also have a hourly tip that can be 0.00 dollars to 5.57 dollars but if they stay over time it's a great thing because they make $18.26 - $50.35. If they receive a bonus residential electrician can get from 0.00 dollars to $2,175. residential electrician total pay in the end is roughly about $30,000 - $80,000. Residential electrician physical environment can be working inside or outdoors. You must take a class of OSHA so they know you went over the steps of safety. Well for a residential electrician the job outlook is projected to grow 20% from the year 2012 to 2022. Every house and business would require lots of wiring or just a few wiring, so they will get their job done with their skills they gotten when training and over the years with experience.

Benjamin Franklin never invented electricity, but he did have an idea of to tie a metal key on the string from the kite and as the clouds pass by he would get an electrical shock. From this being proved that lightning was a form of electricity many inventors and scientists tried to find a way to make electrical power to light as we can use it. He later then made a electrical light bulb in his laboratory. By 1930 in large towns and cities and 10 percent of Americans had electrical power. The companies argue that people who lived in the farms shouldn't have electricity because it was too expensive to string wires so many miles away from the city and they thought that they were very poor and didn't have money to pay their electric bill. So by 1930 almost 25 percent of America had electricity. Tennessee had the authority to help out these farmers so they can have electric appliances. With the help of tennessee it made a whole lot easier for their lives. Now in this time Americans and other people around the world have a standard living of having electric power in their house. Electrical power has give many people good life's and changes. Electrician should always have their high school diploma. Most programs do require you to graduate with math, English and physics. electricians have to get certified in osha which stands for Occupational safety and health administration. one of the most important to get certified is osha 10 because many companies want you to have it so they know that you have gone over 10 hours of safety and they know what you need to do. electricians must go back to get updates and changes. electricians must be up to date with the NEC what stands for National Electrical Code. Every 3 years they always change for maintenance the work and the installations. The NEC changes it every 3 years because people recommend to them in how to do a better job and how to do it safier.to get a license a master license you must have already have 6 years of experience and also if you want to hold a journeyman license its alteast 2 years. If you really want a journeyman license it requires you to have four years of apprentice of electrical experience. so to be an electrician you can get good benefits from it.
one benefit is that you can make great money. on average an electrician can make between 30,000 - 80,000 dollars. with that kind of money you can spend time with your family as an electrician you can have overtime and which means more money in your pocket. with all this money you can go on vacation and have a good time. there is always work for these position. if you leave a job because they lay you off and you go find another job they will hire you because they need electricians there is always openings in for electrical jobs. it is a fast job growth. lets say you're a master election you can own your company you can set your own schedule to work. how much easier can that get in being an electrician ? if you there is always bad thing of being an electrician. it can be very dangerous. if you don't know how to use a meter the right way and then you say it isn't live and its good to work on it and its has voltage and touch it you can die. this is why we all should make sure and double check on what you are working on. it doesnt matter if you have 40 years of experience, you should always be aware of things. another way you can die is you have jewelry and the component is live and it touches it.you can always get cuts while one the job. what i mean is that you are always on your knees and using tools. when using a tool and going at a fast pace you can cut your self. another thing is that you must continue on
your education. you must take class on NEC every 3 years and pass your test and if you dont do this then you can't do any legal work. its a pain to go to school and work because you have to worry about school and work and you might not have enough time for your family and work. when working you can be working in tight spots. you can get dirty and get cuts everywhere. you don't know what can be in there and how bad it is. Griffin Electric, Inc. has become one of the best electrical company. they are always hiring but they want people to be Loyal, dependable, Responsible, Positive attitude. the great thing about this company is that if you apply to this and let say you need help on pipe bending, they have this special program that runs saturdays from 8am- 1pm. this is a great thing because it gives you extra training and the best part is that its free. many companies won't give you this opportunity..3C Electrical Company, Inc is a good company to work for too.they seek for people who are motivated, qualified applicants for the positions they have available. they offer them a safe work and offer on the job training and a promote a team. they key for the 3C Electrical Company, Inc is to provide their workers and customers the best they can. so no matter what company you go to they are all good. these 2 companies are the best of right now but if i had to choose Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc because they have great opportunities and you can work for them and still train for them and they are a huge company in Durham,NC and Charlotte, NC and Duluth, GA and lastly Pelham, AL.
