What is boredom? According to John Taylor Gatto, boredom is ruining the modern day society’s schooling. Gatto is convinced that we ourselves is to blame for boredom, and believes everyone should be able to entertain themselves. “How public education cripples our kids, and why”, written by John Taylor Gatto, is papered with evidences. Even though the literal beauty does not exist in the essay, he starts out blocking all the possible arguments that could be created in the first place by placing evidences in his essay everywhere, unable to criticize on his content, reflection and analysis.…

Most of the time when you walk in a classroom they are this dull boring color and then you look around and see the kids in the classroom and they are either sleeping or dazed out into space. If classrooms themselves were brighter and warm and friendly and teachers didn’t teach the same thing over and over again with one tone of voice and actually tried to make it interesting maybe children wanting to learn more would inspire them to learn more about their own subjects. But, this contradicts the boring argument but kids become bored when they have reached the level of learning with no where else to go. It’s like reaching the top of a cliff with no where else to go, that gets boring after a while but no one tries to educate themselves and learn more they just stay in the same place…

The two persuasive essays called “Doing Nothing is something” by Anna Quindlen and “Kids Really Aren’t Overscheduled” by Salynn Boyle are trying to persuade the reader to believe their point of view of the idea that kids have “too much to do.”Anna Qindlen thinks that kids have too much to do and when you’re doin nothing, you actually at your best. She thinks that when someone is “bored to death” that creativity and ingenuity are in the peak of action. On the other hand, Salynn Boyle says that we don’t have too much to do. She says that playing sports and other activities keep kids out of trouble and it usually benefits them in a way that nothing else will. I would agree more with Salynn Boyle because kids should do more and it keeps them off the streets selling dope or boosting cars. Going out and doing something teaches the kid…

Why did I use such a broad category like entertainment? Because I would miss all forms of entertainment. Music, television, and social media play an important role in my life. Music and television are undoubtedly my weaknesses. As I go to sleep, I listen to music; during my preparation for a new day; I have music playing; my car rides are always filled with some genre of music. Then after a long day of school, I come home and walk straight to my television with a purpose, as Mrs. Deidre Hester would describe it. My educational responsibilities are quickly disregarded as soon as I find a program to watch. If there is nothing entertaining showing, do I begin on my school work? No. I find other activities to engage in, whether it be social media surfing, or eating. Therefore, no entertainment is equal to boredom I my opinion. Being trapped on an island with none whatsoever can be good and bad. The bad part is the possibility of boring my life away, and the good thing is that it gives me the opportunity to focus and meditate on…

Lots of teenagers have screens that they use too much of and miss out on the real world. In some instances, a teenager may be in the middle of a beautiful day where they could play outside, go for a jog, or walk a dog, but instead they just sit on the couch watching that hilarious kitten video over, and over, and over. I would know this because I myself used to be a screen addict, at least until I read the article “Are You a Screen Addict?”. I'm here to tell you not to do that. Too much screen time is bad for a teen.…
