However, I do not see this as a problem at all. Circumstances are constantly changing, and I know that my interests may change as well. I am confident that as I go through my undergraduate program, my career plan will begin to take more shape as I discover what I truly want to do. Speaking as a senior in high school, my most confident plan is to be an actuary. This career seems excellent because there is an emphasis on math and analysis. The idea of insurance and risk management interests me as well. This career pays well, is a growing field, and according to MSU’s math professor Dr. Les Reid, actuaries consistently have one of the nation’s top ratings in job satisfaction. Another career idea that I have is to be a mathematician in a scientific industry. Using math to solve scientific problems is something that I enjoy doing, and I would love to use my math skills to help design a product for an engineering firm. Even further down the line, being a math educator is appealing to me. I think that teaching is very important for the careers of future generations, but it is also a great opportunity to have an impact on students’ lives in a way through more than solely knowledge. I am excited to continue pursuing God through Chi Alpha and other Christian organizations. I am prepared to the serve the community. Opportunities to learn about math and science will be endless and fascinating through research and the Honors College. I am eager to earn a degree or two, possibly move on to graduate school, and start on a satisfying career track.
