Motivated by the Award-winning Hamlet play by the iconic William Shakespeare. Hamlet: out of joint follows the story of Hamlet returning to Denmark, to see Claudius, King Hamlet's brother having been crowned the new King and has married Gertrude. Shortly after his mother's marriage, Prince Hamlet meets his father's spirit. People believe that King Hamlet was killed by a poisonous snake bite. However, the Ghost tells Hamlet that he was murdered by Claudius. The young prince’s world spirals around him. Madness, murder and revenge combine in one of the greatest works in literary history. BellShakespeare perfectly recreate the iconic play to appeal to a younger age group. They are casually talking amongst themselves on the stage while the audience comes in and sit down. After a brief introduction the play is quickly began. We are presented with a simple set for the play’s entirety: of four banners and other simple props/costumes to differentiate between different characters. On these banners where little references of other Shakespeare famous couples for example Romeo and Juliet and Ophilia and Hamlet engraved in a heart. These little extra details helped to make the performance more engaging to the viewer. For set design other props where used for example a handful of white confetti was thrown in the air as the actors would all promptly leave before smoothly transitioning into character. The white confetti efficiently representing snow and pays as a distraction to the audience while the actors have a swift costume change, by placing a simple hat on their heads to create the character of the guards.
