King Proetus not wanting to violate the laws of hospitality by hurting his guest sends him to King Iobates in lykia with a letter simply saying “kill this messenger”. King Iobates felt the same way that King Proetus did and sends Bellerophontes to slay the chimera which was savaging the land. He accomplished the task and was sent to subdue the Solymoi and later the Amazones. Finally the king tells his guards to kill Bellerophontes (“Bellerophontes”).
