In spite of the fact that he was full of good intentions – providing relief to the Palestinians, who are subjected to various brutalities daily, his method of tackling the issue was very unfair.
In accordance with Islamic teachings - theft is prohibited, permissible only in exceptional cases. In fact, the Sharia has distinctly specified the penalty for those caught stealing – amputating one hand. So, does it seem rational to applaud Bendelladj?
Would you still consider Bendelladj praiseworthy if you were one of the victims of his scam? Would you still regard Bendelladj as a hero?
From my point of view, the fact that Bendelladj had used this large sum money for a good cause instead of using it to fulfill his own desires is admirable, nevertheless this is no excuse to steal. I do not object to his intentions as he wished to assist the Palestinians – who are helpless and vulnerable of being attacked by the Israelis. If he was so desirous of financially assisting the subjugated Palestinians, he should have earned his own emoluments by working. He is well-educated and would have received a prestigious job in a reputable company with ease. He could then donate his earnings to fund Palestinian charities. Stealing others money is no way to help
