Benedict Arnold was born in Norwich Connecticut, January 14, 1741. He was 1 out of 5 children and his sister that survived to adulthood. When he was growing up his family was wealthy. Benedict’s childhood was rough. Benedict’s father was a successful businessman. His father did not manage to keep the family’s money that well, and they were financially ruined. When he was growing up he was a apothecary and a bookseller. At the age of 15 he ran away and enlisted in the Continental Army where he help fight against the French in the Seven Years War. Benedict Arnold’s Education, Marriage, and Kids Benedict Arnold parents were Hannah Arnold and Benedict Arnold III. He had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Since of his family wealth back then he went to a private school of Canterbury.But bad business decisions his father became an alcoholic. But tragedy happened Benedict’s brothers died 1 sister and his mom they died of yellow fever. Due to this his
father started to drink heavily, so after a few years later after Benedict’s mom death his dad died to. He married Margaret Mansfield, they had 3 boys together. But then Margaret had died in 1775. On 1775 Connecticut was having the idea for revolution.
Benedict Arnold was chosen to become Captain of the Governor’s 2nd Company of Connecticut guards. After the war of Lexington Concord Benedict made a plan to seize Fort Ticonderoga in New York. So he partnered up with Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys to capture Fort Ticonderoga. On May 10, 1775 they successfully seized Fort Ticonderoga, Fort George, And Crown Point. Benedict tried to take over Quebec but had failed to do so. By 1780 Benedict was being more bitter to the Continental Congress. He was appointed as the command of the fort at West Point he offered to hand it over to the british for a huge sum of money. He also fought in the revolutionary war but has traited the patriots and went over to the british for big sums of money with his
family.

Benedict Arnold died on June 14, 1801 at the age of 60. His body was buried at St. Mary’s Church in Battersea London. Benedict's name is omitted from a number of revolutionary war monument.. He was once a patriot to a traitor.

His fellow conspirator Major Andre (a soldier in the british army) was hanged by the Continental Army for being a spy.
