Many children in America are waiting to be adopted right now, while there are also many couples that cannot have children. Adoption is one major way for those couples to have children. Adoption has helped millions of people build families from nothing. It also helps the group homes and orphanages make space for more kids. Although there are many good things that come from adoption, there are many people out there who adopt kids they can’t care for. There are some couples who think they can handle big families, but they end up adopting too many kids. Therefore, there should be a limit on how many children a family or couple can adopt.

The amount of children in the world that are uncared for is ridiculously high, people are having children, and then not wanting to raise them. The children in group homes and orphanages are cared for, and when they are adopted, they should be cared for the same. Adopting a child is more responsibility than what people believe it to be. But, sometimes the families become too overwhelmed with finding a child, rather than actually taking time to think of all the responsibilities. When adopting a child, those people will have to care for that child for eighteen years, finically and emotionally. In adoption, you are the sole provider and caretaker of that child. They never really think about the amount of work, time, and effort it takes (Lip93) to raise a child, especially if they are a single mother or father. The amount of responsibility is huge, and that should definitely be considered, no matter what. The amount of children who are uncared for is too high, it would be lowered if there was a limit on how many kids that people can adopt.
People will argue that government funding is used either way; in a group home or when adopted. But, when adoption is finalized, the parents are responsible for the children they adopt. The state is responsible for the kids that are in group homes and orphanages. The kids in those homes are underage, (most of the time), and they are taken care of in the facilities that are ran by the government. Adoption is something that passes the child over from the state to the parents. They have full responsibility of the child. Therefore, they should be able to support their child
