With an alarm it can go off to remind you to do something. It could also make sure you don’t get distracted on 1 thing and tell you to move on. The calendar is like sticky notes but if you can’t write well you can talk into your phone so it adds the specific thing to the calendar. They can be complicated sometimes but very helpful. E books are helpful if you can't read well. People read the book so you can listen to it. A kid named benjamin has to use a special program for academics and has to use a mp3 player to read (Hartmann 2). Ebooks help with dyslexia. Listening to something is easier for him. There is text to speech programs like e-books and there is speech to text applications. An example of this is dragon dictate. Dragon dictate is fairly simple to use. It records your voice, changes it to text and thens emails that text to you.(Vlasak and Ranaldo 3). That helps people that can’t write because they do not have good motor skills to write. It makes writing very simple to them and easier for
teachers.
As time goes on assistive technology is becoming more successful and more people are utilizing assistive technology for their children. There are many small things that you might have never known could be used to help. Also there are complicated computer programs that helps people with motor skills. There is more Assistive technology available for children. All the technology is used to increase, maintain, or improve a child with disabilities. And everything listed does that. There are simple sticky notes and alarms, to computer programs. It depends on the person's disability and how they want to cope with it.
