Australia, explains the benefits of mandatory voting and how it could change the U.S and how it could help us in many
ways.
Mandatory voting would give all Americans say in politics. The government wouldn't just pay attention to certain people.
The people the vote would get more attention because of their contribution to politics. This could have bad effects
on the people who need say in politics but don't get the attention needed.Having mandatory voting would give everyone say
to help fix problems that are needed to be focused on. Which brings me to our second reason.
Many people waste money producing ads, articles,
and even commercials on television to get people to vote. However, this
usually has little effect on any people, therefore, it wastes valuable money. If voting were mandatory, this loss of money
could be focused on more important things besides getting people to vote. Eventually, the amount of money able to be
used on the problems at hand could drop.
Though there are many reasons to have mandatory voting, there is also reasons not to. Mandatory voting would flood the
polls with millions of uninformed voters. Doing so could make people make bad decisions that they don't want. This brings
me to my second reason.
If the polls become flooded with uninformed voters, they could make bad choices. Not every president is perfect in every way.
There is a chance that the voters could get a president that makes bad choices. These choices could spark arguments,
which can eventually lead to a catastrophe, such as war.
These examples show that mandatory voting has many benefits to come with it, but sometimes can be a bad thing.
Having it could increase attention into politics, but then having it may cause bad decisions that could be catastrophic.
There are many more reasons for us and the government to think about when talking about mandatory voting and politics,
not just the ones shown in this article.
