Before starting this project, we were learning about a time in America’s history when the Patriots came together to strive for the freedom and growth of their country, later known as the Revolutionary War. The Patriots were the brave citizens of the thirteen colonies who fought for America’s freedom from the rule of the British. Many people showed the best of their ability and rose up to be leaders, diplomats, politicians, and more. However, one person in particular laid down the foundation of America and played a key role in the war. This was none other than Benjamin Franklin. Mr. Franklin caught our eye through his many achievements, like the French Alliance of 1778, drafting the Declaration of Independence, and signing all four key documents of America’s development.. …show more content…

Both books and website detail the life and background of Mr. Franklin’s life and how he contributed to the growth of America. How these books helped us was by providing us with information about Benjamin Franklin’s childhood and how reading and writing, a big impact on him, shaped him into the person he was to help America thrive. Another source that helped us understand the importance of Benjamin Franklin was “The Story of the Benjamin Franklin: Amazing American” by Margaret Davidson. In this book, it shows that Franklin didn’t only help in the American society, but also make scientific discoveries, such as that lightning conducts electricity. Websites like Valley Forge History also helped us with our research. This website, published by goes more into depth about Franklin as an American diplomat.
