Beowulf Descriptive Writing
As I sit in a dimly lit room of my penthouse I look past the large movie that is projected onto the large windows and out into the night. I see the many apartments and skyscrapers obstructing my view and hiding the stars of the night sky. Rain softly hits the windows and I feel a moment of total utter peace. My legs lay on the hard oak coffee table in front of me, giving me a cool sensation on my legs. Even though it's warm in the room I lie under a soft blanket with my boyfriend and we happily watch an old movie together. Ace Ventura, a classic. My boyfriend, Brett, and I laugh loudly at the ridiculousness of the movie. He holds me close, I feel warm and happy and safe. The sofa we sit on is red and fuzzy. It's a little lumpy but only because we've had it for so long. A bag of chips and a small bowl filled with dip sits between …show more content…
Picture frames sit in front of the books inside the frames hold pictures of old friends and family, along with new ones. A table and two chairs are placed to the right of the bookshelf. The table and chairs are a matching pair with metal bars to hold them up and black accents on the table top and the backs of the chairs. A intricate glass vase sits on top of the table filled with bright red tulips that I snagged from my grandmas garden before moving here. Some of their petals are turning maroon and are beginning to wilt, I should water them soon. Behind the couch and out of view is where the kitchen is. It's small and cozy with two stars leading up to it. An island is in the very center, with marble table tops and various kitchen intensional strewn about. The large windows merge into warm cream colored walls that match the red and black aesthetic of the rest of the house. Two black bar stools are placed by the island, their backs to the couch. Three lights hang over the kitchen, almost like the ones in the living room except these are fixed to the

In the poem Beowulf it has been argued whether or not Beowulf shows pagan or Christian values or even both. however if one reads the poem and analysis closely you can see that Beowulf upholds both Christian and pagan values. The bravery and courage that Beowulf became so famous for shows his heroic and pagan values however he also shows Christian values by protecting and treating all of his people equally and by fighting the dragon alone and giving the gold to the people even if he did survive the final battle with the dragon.…

Is Beowulf an example of a perfect hero? Does he have the heroic qualities needed to be a perfect hero? Those inquisitions about Beowulf and his personality will be answered in great detail and marvelous explanation throughout my essay. Beowulf is an epic story about a legendary hero named “Beowulf”. Beowulf is a Scandinavian from the people known as Geats. On hearing a history of the Danes leading to the latest story that Hrothgar, a king of the Danes, is being terrorized by a monster named Grendel: he decides to travel with 12 others and save them. He fights Grendel with the 12 other men and kills him. However he makes a mistake when he goes to kill the mother but instead sleeps with her but goes back to the Danes and says she is dead. Although he makes this big mistake which may come back to haunt him I still believe Beowulf is an example of a perfect hero because even though he has flaws he overcomes them and continues fighting for justice till his last breath and that is a true hero.…

Often, the term is used that someone or something is “blessed by God.” Typically, this is not a phrase that has a negative connotation: obviously being blessed by anyone would be a positive thing, but to be blessed by a god or gods speaks of divine intervention on one’s behalf, which is obviously a little more impressive than being told to have a blessed day by a sweet old lady. Beowulf believed himself to be blessed by the Lord, and the narrator makes a plain case throughout the epic that Beowulf is indeed blessed by God in all manners due to his courageous nature and great personal faith. Was Beowulf truly blessed by God? This is a difficult question to answer, but the narrator certainly seemed to believe that he was.…

The epic, Beowulf, has a setting of around 400 A.D. which was before the establishment of Anglo-Saxon civilization. Beginning in 449 A.D. after England’s first invasion of Germanic tribes, the Anglo-Saxon period was a time of cultural customs and beliefs. The Anglo-Saxons were Pagans, or practiced a polytheistic religion, until Pope Gregory sent Augustine to convert them to Catholicism. They had a democratic government with an elected chief who was typically the strongest warrior in the tribe. The Anglo-Saxon society based their lives around five main concepts: loyalty, personal indebtness, fame, fate, and heroism. Beowulf reflects these ideals and enables the reader to gain more knowledge about the tribes by appreciating man’s heroic characteristics but still acknowledging their mortality. Although Beowulf lacks important qualities, such as humility, he is an epic hero due to his capability to perform…
