An allegory is a poem, story, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning usually a political or moral. Beowulf is an allegory of god he protects the land and the inhabitants.
The story of Beowulf is about a hero that comes to save the day. He does so by killing the danes evil monster grendel.that terrorized the danes.Beowulf and his men prepared and waited for Grendel.when grendel arrived Beowulf engaged in hand to hand combat with grendel. Beowulf then tore off Grendel’s arm(ch.14). Grendel’s mother then tried to avenge her son but Beowulf and his warriors were waiting for her(ch.19). Beowulf the tracked down grendel’s mother. While beowulf was fighting her hrothgar and his men left. She then dragged beowulf to her lair where beowulf began to fight her with his bare hands. Because Beowulf is england many people tried to invade the island like the danes. In the story beowulf is now helping the danes fight there monster. The danes in the story show that they don’t have much loyalty to their king. The king’s men ran away when grendel attacked. Also they did not wait for beowulf to return when he went to go fight Grendel’s mother.
In medieval times they party and drink mead they would have these parties at great halls. In the story the hall is heorot. The soldiers were very loyal to their leader. They would not back down from a fight.
They crossover many christian and pagan beliefs in Beowulf. Grendel is a pagan monster but he is a descendant from cain who was in the bible.Cain killed his brother and that is where all of the monsters descended from. They try praying to god and they also made sacrifices to the pagan gods to make grendel stop.
