Is there a relationship between access to supportive social networks and positive grief adjustment and/or lack of supportive networks and negative bereavement outcomes?
3. Do bereaved parents perceive social network prejudice or stigma? If there is a perception of prejudice or stigma, how is that experienced by the bereaved parent? What type of impact does that have on their bereavement outcome?
4. Controlling for internal dispositional variables, what impact does societal bereavement expectations have on the bereaved parents’ bereavement outcomes?
The qualitative portion of data will be collected via semi-structured interviews with bereaved parents audio recorded and coded by no less than three separate coders, which will be subject to interrater reliability tests. The quantitative data will consist of appropriately reliable and validated pencil-and-paper measurements obtained from bereaved individuals in general as compared to bereaved parents in particular to allow for comparative group analyses.
