bermuda triangle
The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is an infamous stretch of the Atlantic Ocean bordered by the southern coast of the U.S., Bermuda, and the Greater Antilles that has been the location of strange disappearances of ships and aircraft since the mid-19th century. Could supernatural forces be responsible for these occurrences? Some probable explanations for the missing vessels include hurricanes, undersea earthquakes and magnetic fields that interfere withcompasses and other positioning devices. But it's much more interesting to think the disappearing vessels were drawn into another dimension, swept away by aliens or simply vanished into thin air.
Dozens of ships and planes have vanished into the Bermuda Triangle, many without leaving a trace. Read on to learn about 10 ill-fated journeys that never returned from the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.

It’s not the first thing people talk about when they have conversations. It’s not like how it was back then in the 1800s or the 1900s. No one ever really go out of their way to catch the Devil, although there have been a couple people who still claim that they have seen the Jersey Devil. On January 21, 2008, a man in Eldora overheard an odd screech and noticed a creature that looked just like the Jersey Devil’s. Minutes later after going inside the man’s house the phone started ringing. The Devil flew away as soon as he heard the ringing of the mans cell phone. The man did not see the Jersey Devil again after that. When all of that had happened, it scared him that maybe it would come back and try to kill him or something of that sort, but he never came back after that…

For centuries, mariners have spread stories about giant sudden waves which appeared out of nowhere without warning which were strong enough to capsize even the mightiest and largest ships. Several vessels—such as the S.S. Waratah, the M.S. Munchen, and the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald—were all rumored to have been sunk by rogue waves (Walsh par. 3). Further, rogue waves have been blamed for ripping the bow off of a Norwegian freighter near the tip of South Africa in 1974, almost capsizing the Queen Elizabeth in 1942 off the coast of Greenland, striking the Queen Elizabeth H in 1995, and for swamping military aircraft carriers and tearing tankers in half (McDonald A21). These waves have also been immortalized in popular culture, as evidenced by the 1972 film The Poseidon Adventure and its 2006 remake Poseidon.…

The warm ocean breeze blows across my face as we are loading onto the cruise ship. It is the summer of 2016, and my very first cruise. I brought my friend, Mariah, along with me for my first experience. We are on our way to Puerto Rico from Florida, which means we will be going through the Bermuda Triangle. We are finally on the ship and getting cozy in our room. As we set off for Puerto Rico, I decide to take a nap to try and get my mind off of things.…

In September of 1578, the fleet, now three ships, sailed through the deadly Strait of Magellan with speed and ease, only to emerge into terrific Pacific storms. For two months the ships were in mortal danger, unable to sail clear of the weather or to stay clear of the coast. The ships were scattered, and the smallest, the Marigold, went down with all hands. The Elizabeth found herself back in the strait and turned tail for England, where she arrived safely but in disgrace. Meanwhile, the Golden Hind had been blown far to the south, where Drake discovered - perhaps - that there was open water below the South American continent.…

The United States Navy does not believe the Bermuda Triangle exists and the United States Board of Geographic Names does not recognize the Bermuda Triangle as an official name for the area. Some would say that the government is trying to cover something up. Just think of the think about the suspicion that comes with hundreds of ships going missing, along with their cargo, crew, and passengers.
