In scene 1 in the play Adika was killed during demonstrating, Adika meets his death, he was short four times for standing for the truth and to make matters worse, by a kinsman, they followed him to his grave and desecrated it.
The old couple Doga and Nina are murdered in cold blood by Mulili, an agent of the oppressive regime. This is because they disagreed with him and as a result he gets some favors.
Kabito is killed in cold blood after differing with Mulili over a tender supply of milk to Kafira University.
In Prison Askari, claimed that he killed a man where Mosese and Jere are in and to him is a heroic deed.
Doga and Nina’s son, Jusper, killed chagaga(sub-chief’s brother) and Jusper was seen dragging the body to the river and when a search commenced it was stated that, the body was found there and jusper himself confessed that he did the crime.
IMPUNITY
This refers to a situation where one can do anything without fear of being punished.
In Kafira state officials led by boss are not accountable to the people
Mulili’s behavior portrays impunity when he talks aimlessly and he is not worried about the consequences so long as boss is on his side.
Boss’ words are final and no one can reverse what he says, he governs by instilling fear into everyone. Those who oppose him and speak out like Mosese and Jere are taken in and others are killed.
VIOLENCE
It is wide spread in Kafira and it is pactised by state officials, we also have incidences where members of the public engage in violent acts.
After Jusper confesses that he killed Chagaga, he mob attacked him violently. They threw stones at him until he fell down, after falling people ran away thinking he was dead.
In prison cells, violence is used to silence government critics and aby act of perceived subversion is crashed ferociously at the earliest opportunity. Askari seems to have perfected this and confesses that he had killed someone in the cells. “I have once
