Beyoncé wants to empower women and help them be proud while at the same time she goes to great lengths to ensure that men should not feel ashamed of who they are. Through the video, she tries to convince the viewer that women are independent and can handle many things without a man’s assistance. This shows a significant change between this generation and earlier ones. For example, women did not have the right to vote in the past. Also, they were expected to do chores around the house such as cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their children while their …show more content…
spouses went to work for the whole day. With the evolution of feminism today, things have changed and this song proves it. It informs the viewer that women now have the right to vote and that the rule about a woman not being allowed to work a certain job due to her gender no longer applies in today’s society. A woman can now become an engineer if she wanted to just like a man being interested in a nursing career can become a nurse.
Beyoncé’s song isn’t meant to harm or offend anyone but to propagate equality between men and women. While it has had varied reviews, the song did make her message loud and clear. Some people have gotten the right idea about the song, but others, such as anti-feminists, have criticized it heavily without fully understanding it. They would think that it universally degrades men and labels them as inferior while putting women in charge of everything as dictators. However, if they listen to the song and watch the music video attentively several times, they would eventually come to realize that the song does not pose a threat to them. This would also show them that Beyoncé is indeed a good person and accepts everyone for who they are and clearly wants everyone around her to live equally. Therefore, this song is important because it underscores the importance of the value of gender equality.

While analyzing this topic might be a good experience, it can also come with some difficulties here and there. For example, I might have trouble with sorting out my information. This can be solved by taking notes of what is happening in the video, or summarizing the plot part by part. Then, I would try to examine the meaning of each part of the video and write down what I think they symbolize or represent. This would help me figure out what to write in each paragraph, thus causing my essay to be organized. Also, I could have problems with transitioning between paragraphs and using proper sentence structure while working on this paper. The best thing to do is to free write and then edit the rough draft myself and, then, through peer review, which would allow me to see my essay through the eyes of someone else. Finally, some people might disagree with the song, believing that it actually demeans men. This will prompt me to gather as much evidence as possible to prove them wrong.
