The defense mechanisms of the Bobois are especially unique. During the winter the Bobois produces a thick coat of gray slime that will cover its body to create a slimy shell. This slime protects it from cold temperatures by using the Greenhouse Effect to absorb and trap heat inside of the slime. When the season changes to Summer the slime will start to melt revealing its damp cyan-ish body which helps the worm keep cool during hot weather. If the Bobois is about to die it will split in half to create two new Bobois. These two will grow to 8 cm long and live to be about 3-4 years old. The way the Bobois splits in half is lengthy. This means it cuts the Bobois’ length in half. In the middle of the Bobois’ body is a slime ring that separates the worm in two. Reproduction of the Bobois is quite weird if I do say so myself.
Communication is not very necessary to the Bobois considering that it lives alone; however, if the Bobois has a comrade nearby and it needs help it will become an essential tool. Bobois’ rub their antennae together to create an aroma that any other Bobois’ nearby will smell. The aroma will tell other Bobois’ that a Bobois needs help and they will follow the scent. There is a problem, however. Predators can smell the aroma, too. This means that instead of a Bobois the helper might be a bird. In conclusion their way of communication is risky but somewhat beneficial.
