    4th of July Speech

    • 1050 Words

In reading this speech I see the points Frederick Douglass is pointing to. When Frederick Douglass read this speech in 1852 he reminds us of the birthday of America's independence which at the time was 76 years of freedom. Frederick Douglass is proud that our nation was still young saying that our nation is only in the beginning of carrer. He then reminds us of a time when America was still under the rule of Britain. The people of America were under the English government and England was their fatherland. America's home government did make limitations and restraints in which our fathers differed with. They thought that the limitations put on them were unjust and unreasonable. They protested against this in a respectful and loyal manner because of how England was treating the American Colonies. In form of a resolution they contemplated that their united colonies should become Independent States and that every political connection between them and Britain should be put away. Our fathers have succeeded with this resolution giving us the freedom we have today in America. This made the 4th of July an anniversary day we properly celebrate every year. Patriotism and Pride prompt us to celebrate this day in remembrance of the Declaration of Independence. Douglass's words say to stand by those principles made by the Declaration of Independence on all occasions and places at whatever cost. Douglass then states the case that he is not included in the blessings of American freedom. He also states that the justice, liberty, and independence received by our fathers are shared by the audience but not himself. He then says that the Fourth of July is theirs not his stating that while they rejoice he mourns. This then leads him to discuss the subject of American slavery. He then talks about slavery from a slave's point of view. He says that America has never looked darker than on this 4th of July. Whether discussing about the past or present this nation showed a class of evil…

    Hall of Fame Speech

Thank You I appreciate everyone coming out, and the selection committee for honoring me with this prestigious accomplishment. When told I was making the hall of fame I had to think about my accomplishments at the high school during my career. I had to think about individual accolades, and personal accomplishments that I had achieved, but the only thing that really stuck out in my head was the CCS championship that our team won in 2005. I realized that football is the ultimate team game, and personal accomplishments are great, but they do not mean as much unless your team is successful. That is what I prided myself on when I played cougar football working hard, and making sure others were working hard beside me, and that’s one of the reasons I believe I was so successful. Half Moon Bay is unique place, and playing football here is a one of a kind experience. There is so much love, support, and sense of community here that you can’t get anywhere else. So I want to say thank you to the community, who kept an eye on me, and for the most part kept me out of trouble. I want to thank you to all the coaches over the years in all my sports for teaching me valuable lessons. I want to thank Mark Foyer also known as scoop for covering Half Moon Bay sports like we were pro athletes. I want to especially thank Matt Ballard, Keith Holden, Powell Chee, and Don Dias who were my coaches during my football years that taught me if you win the hit and hustle, and are willing to put in the work then you will be successful in not only football, but life. And most of all I want to thank my family, who has put up with me for 25 years. I am grateful I get to work here as a small business owner, and real estate agent. Half Moon Bay is a place I will always call home. Thank…

Donald Trump’s speech on a positive note did thank President Obama and the first lady for helping him with the transition. Then Trump started tapping into his core supporter, going over how only a few has reaped the rewards of government while the masses pickup the cost. Also, he attacked the Politicians by stating they prospered, “but the jobs left.” Moreover, Trump’s inaugural speech was similar to his campaign when he was running against Hilary Clinton. He echoes the words “make America great again.” Then with his speech he mentioned he would transfer the power to “the people.” Moreover, he pointed out the negatives of the establishment and he stated the system was broken. However, never stated how or what the solution was to fix the problems…

    George Bush Speech

    • 1854 Words

George Bush addressed the people of America with powerful speech after the horrific terrorist attack of 9 11. George Bush used authoritative and military language to convey the tone of determination and leadership as we see by the way he says “called to defend freedom”. In his opening line deictic expression is used as he says “tonight we are a country awakened to danger…” out of context this line would make no sense, so we must have knowledge of what is occurring to understand it. The tone he used in the first paragraph brought feeling of certainty and assurance to the nation by stating “whether we bring our enemies….justice will be done.” This use of the language technique epistrophe and repetition is an attempt to rebuild the trust, confidence and hope of the American government and its citizens. Throughout this first paragraph George Bush uses personal pronouns to directly address the nation, making it more personal and more likely to evoke a response from his global audience. His American accent also has a personal effect on the nation as they know that he is grieving with them as he is one of them. We also see him map out the process of grieving in which the nation will go through as he says “grief to anger, and anger to resolution”.…

You were born under a full moon. Other than the fact they were born quite literally howling at the moon, people born under a full moon tend to be idealistic, and spiritual. It is often their quest for the ideal that lead them to religion to seek clarity. Much as the full moon is at the half point in the lunar cycle, balance plays a large part in their lives. They are often divided between two sides, such as the need to conform and the need to be individualistic. Or they may be friends with two groups that are at odds with each other. Seeing both sides of a situation gives them a unique perspective that the wisdom of age will later allow them to capitalize on.…
