Good evening everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying their night. My name is Keyona and I was the one of the 4 captains chosen for the 2011 Montclair High School Cheerleading Squad. During my 3 years on the squad, I’ve had so many memories, good and bad, that helped me grow as a person. Cheerleading throughout my high school career took part in shaping me as the person I am today. I’d like to congratulate this year’s squad for making it through the season successfully as a new team. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I think we handled each situation well. As the season progressed, I’ve formed bonds with many of the girls on the team that will last me way beyond my high school experience. Some of the girls I think more of sisters than team mates. You guys made my experience more than enjoyable by joking, laughing, and having fun every time I stepped through gym doors. Even if my day was horrible, SOMEONE made me laugh or smile and my frown was quickly turned upside down. I’d like to thank Ms. Rob and Ms. HB for giving me the opportunity to be captain this year. They taught me to have a tough skin and to keep my head up in any situation I face in life. If I had the choice to pick different coaches for the squad, I wouldn’t because nobody could take their place in my eyes. Most importantly, I’d like to thank my mother Lisa White for motivating me and being there whenever I needed her. Even though she punished me every Saturday after each home game with washing loads of dishes from when she made cookies the night before, it was worth it. Overall, the season was unforgettable and I wouldn’t give my spot up as captain for the world. Thank you guys and enjoy the rest of your time here at the…

“ What a beautiful day for some Dodger baseball,” Commented Vin Scully, with this legendary saying you knew that it was indeed a good day for baseball. The Commissioner of Baseball was driving down the highway on his royal blue Ferrari, casually listening to any baseball game that was on the radio. Normally a Cubs, Braves, or dodgers game is broadcasted. Thankfully the commissioner got in his car right as the first pitch was thrown. Knowing the Hall of Fame induction was tomorrow, The commissioner went out to buy an expensive and the nicest suit he could possibly find. Four hours later, Rob Manfred returned to his mansion in his white Ferrari f12. To his right was a Lamborghini Aventador and Lamborghini Huracan, to his left was a Ferrari…

The Dallas Cowboys finished last year season with a 12-4 record. Almost coming out of Training Camp without any major injuries to a key player’s defensive back Orlando Scandrick tore his ACL/MCL last week. Scandrick is out for the season. Even though losing Scandrick is tough I still believe the Cowboys will be fine because they have depth at the defensive back position, and upgrading the pass rush which the defensive backs won’t have to cover wide-receivers for so long. With the additions of Greg Hardy, Byron Jones, Randy Gregory, Corey White, DeMarcus Lawrence developing his body into becoming a force at the left end, defensive position, and Tyrone Crawford is looking to have a Pro Bowl Caliber year the Cowboys finally have depth at the defensive…

For example: going back to the ’03 season when some not-so-talented QB by the name of Quincy Carter operated behind the center, the Cowboys still managed to make the postseason with a 10-6 record. Going inside the numbers of Carter’s performance, he threw 17 touchdown passes to 21 interceptions and completed below 60 percent of his passes. That’s below average and nowhere near the productivity of Romo, the Cowboys’ all-time leading passer. Porous play at quarterback got the Cowboys further than recent teams with solid play from a four time Pro Bowler like Romo.…

    a. No matter what people say, multitasking is one of the hardest things to do. Whether it’s play two sports in high school or work two jobs, it’s tough to handle all that responsibility. I myself played two sports in high school and trying to balance that out with school was a tough enough task in itself. Now imagine having to manage two professional jobs at the same time, well that’s the life Bo Jackson lived, my favorite professional athlete and arguably the best athlete of all time. Vincent ‘Bo’ Jackson was born on November 30, 1962 in Bessemer, Alabama. He earned the nickname “Bo” early as a child because he was a very rough and competitive kid and his brother shortened the word “boar” into “Bo”. He was one of eight children and had only a mother growing up, so he lived in a very troublesome home. Bo was a tough-edged and competitive person since he was a young child. He was getting into fights and doing reckless things that all kids do. But because he was so gifted at sports, he realized he had to stay out of trouble if he wanted to get out of his rough neighborhood. Bo excelled at sports in high school and even got drafted by the New York Yankees after his senior year, but he chose to attend Auburn University to play football and baseball, and get his education like his mother had wanted. This was the beginning of an entire life changing time for not only Bo, but also for the fans who watched him. Bo Jackson changed the entire sports world and the way we looked athletes forever.…

They ran out onto the field, similar in size and strength of men in their twenties, and began a simple, but loud chant of “Red Dogs” accompanied by the crowd. Beginning to have some doubt, we sent our captains out to the middle of the field for the coin toss. Even though our captains were some of the tallest biggest people on our team, they were miniature compared to the size of their four captains who towered over our captains as an adult towers over a child. This moment is when we were certain the game was a lost cause and first place was out of reach. Doubt and defeat could already be seen in the coach’s eyes; nevertheless, we lined up for the first play. Alex said “hut”, and we ran it straight up the middle—touchdown. We stood there in aw not believing what just happened and thought surely it was a fluke. Our defense stopped them, and we scored again. The final score was 35-7, and the Falcons won it. After shaking the hand of the sad giants, we received the trophy and first place ribbons; and our doubts and disbeliefs were nowhere in sight.…

The Permian Panthers was no ordinary high school football team. Its win-loss record was unrivalled in the state, and the team had won five state championships. The ultimate honor for every boy in town was to play football for the Panthers. For every girl it was to become a Pepette, a cheerleader who baked cookies for the players during off days and dazzled the crowd to the tune of the school fight song on game days. In Odessa, everybody defined themselves in terms of the school football team and lived vicariously through it. So obsessed were the townspeople that they hardly raised an eyebrow when the football team chartered planes for away games at $20,000 a ride while the teachers scrounged around for money to buy textbooks and teaching materials.…
