Bilateral Foot Pain Case Studies
The patient is a 65-year-old gentleman who presents to the ED complaining of bilateral foot pain that started around December 15th. At that time he was admitted to Hunterdon Medical Center and discharged on 12/24 with minimal relief of his pain. The patient states he was given antibiotics and claims only x-rays of the back were obtained. The patient was recently seen by Dr. Damani’s office and referred directly to the ER for evaluation. He is not well and not able to describe his pain well. His medical history is significant for past history of polio, hypertension and multiple back surgeries, one was here at St. Joseph's in October 2016, he had extensive surgery and manipulation with placement of rods and screws in his back. consult as not yet available however, the patient presents with pain and with a very high C-reactive protein level which initially measured at 16 and on the day of this dictation was 179.2, as well as a sedimentation rate that went from 86 to 95. He is also described as having bilateral clubfeet. There is obviously something going on with this patient and I believe he requires acute inpatient hospitalization for the most appropriate care and management. Efforts will be made to obtain the records from the Hunterdon Medical Center.
