Use a billing service or software. Pay for the service/software or set up an account to use it if needed. Intuit has a Billing Solution for QuickBooks that is a billing service. CitrusDB is an example of billing software that is available.
Follow the service's or software's instructions to set up your billing system.
2
Input customer information into your system. Include items such as credit card information, billing and mailing addresses and payment schedules.
3
Add any standard billing items and amounts you charge. You may be able to save time working on bills by only having to enter typical billing costs once into your system.
4
Set up recurring billing for customers if applicable. Schedule billing to occur automatically in regular intervals, such as once a month.
5
Send customers bill payment reminders if possible. This can ensure that you receive payment on time and in a regular fashion.
6
Prepare billing invoices. These invoices may be printed and mailed or emailed to customers. Check your invoices for errors before sending them to customers to prevent problems or arguments later.
If you bill for materials on a job, make a list of the materials you used or bought to get paid for them later. Provide copies of any receipts for the materials to attach to your customer's bill.
7
Record your receipt of payments. Keep track of when you were paid by a customer and what the payment amount was.
