Surprisingly Bipolar disorder isn’t a simple disease. Bipolar disorder is also known by another name which is manic-depressive illness. Our double named disorder causes a few big changes to the life of the ill and lives around them. The symptoms of this disorder are very severe but can differ on severity depending on the person. This disorder is life altering in many ways, but with medications and treatment this disorder can be managed, allowing the afflicted to lead normal lives.
This disorder affects many aspects of life for the afflicted, because Bipolar is a brain disorder. Bipolar disorder works by causing abnormal shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to accomplish everyday tasks. Everyone
experiences changes in mood, energy, and activity levels, and we aren’t all Bipolar. Bipolar is experiencing these changes in a severe way that is altering the perception of reality for the afflicted. As a result if left untreated most afflicted will damage reputation, poor performance in work or elsewhere, and devastated relationships.
There are a great many symptoms for Bipolar disorder, but to understand the signs and symptoms manic and depression mood episodes. Mood episodes for people suffering from Bipolar disorder are spans of time that they experience unusual and very intense emotional states. During a mood episode a person’s behavior and mood will be greatly different from their normal behavior. There are three kinds of mood episodes manic, depressive, and mixed. Manic episodes they experience mood changes where they get overly happy and outgoing mood, and or extreme irritability. Some Behavioral changes they can experience are racing thoughts and talking fast, loss of sleep, unrealistic belief in one’s ability, and becoming impulsive. Depressive has mood changes of hopelessness, sadness, loss of enjoyment, and lower sex drive. Behavioral changes are fatigue, concentrating memory and decision making issues, irritability, change in habits, thoughts of suicide even attempts. The last Episode is mixed and it is a combination of both they can experience many depressive symptoms while feeling extremely energized. In very severe cases afflicted can have psychotic symptoms during an episode, resulting in hallucinations or delusions.
