Birthday Box Theme
In the short story ‘Birthday Box’ by Jane Yolen the theme is life can be tough. Two reasons why my theme is life can be tough are that she had to live in the hospital and she had to live with her dad. My theme life is tough is because when her mom got sick, she had to live in the hospital. For instance, Katie had lived in the hospital so long that she knew every nurse. For example, V. Louise, Patty , Tracey-Lynn, Lily, Mary Margaret, and many more. Also, another example is that even though she was sick Katie's mom still through her a birthday party at the hospital. She made the doctors and nurses get Katie a present. Even in her final hours Katie's mom tried making living in a hospital seem ok and that is one of my reasons why my theme is
