He and Joe would spend countless hours singing and performing as children for their parents and just never stopped. When he was very young, he lived in a very oppressed area and found friends rather quickly because he had always been a little different so he could relate to the kids in this area easily. When he was 11 his family moved away from that area and he transferred to a Catholic school, with a predominantly white population. He said, "through the catholic world I was in living I learned about racism and bigotry and all the things I was unaware of as a little kid." He goes on to explain that when you live in a neighborhood or community where there is more important thing to worry about you don't focus on what can't be helped, like if someone is gay or has a disability. When he saw how the people is his new neighborhood acted towards and talked about people who were different than them that is when he immediately detached from everyone around him. He began to get into trouble by smoking cigarettes outside of school and wearing band t-shirts which weren't allowed at his new school. Andy met the rest of the band members and they released their first song Knives and pens. This song is about Andy's bullying experience and how to work through it. Black Veil Brides has always encouraged fans to stay positive in times of hardship and inspired people with their lyrics. They have helped thousands of people move on from depression and self-harming. Andy and his wife even have a jewelry brand called Never Take It Off. Its goal is to encourage people to never give in, never back down and never stop believing in yourself. The band has released four albums titled; We Stitch These Wounds, Set the World on Fire, Wretched and Divine: Story of the Wild Ones and self-titled album Black Veil Brides.
