I was asked by my peers in a group discussion one time of why I thought the witches were to blame. My peers thought that if Macbeth didn’t really want to kill Duncan to become king couldn’t he have just said no and not gone through with it? They thought that if he had just said no then none of these continuous murderings by Macbeth would’ve happened. But, like I said in paragraph one, Act 1, Scene 3, Lines 14-23, “I myself have all the other and the very ports they blow, all the quarters that they know I’ th’ shipman’s card. Weary sev’nnights nine times nine shall he dwindle, peak and pine.” The witches are mainly telling us that they can just cast a spell on someone and they have full control of their actions. I strongly agree that the witches are to blame for Macbeth’s downfall. Shakespeare gives us many foreshadows, like the ones i stated above, about the witches being evil.
